Can you change curly hair to staright hair without a flatning iron?

My boyfriend has the most curly hair ever! One thing I've noticed is that its really hard for him to manage it. Every time he shampoos and conditions it, it puffs up into an ugly afro. Straight hair apparently has no disatvantages likewise. I was wondering if there is a way that I could help him change it without using a flatning iron? I know that he definitly wouldn't agree on a flatning iron.

Can you change curly hair to staright hair without a flatning iron?

No, have him get it cut very short.

Hair is straight, wavy or curly due to the shape of the follicles the hair grows from--there is no way to change it permanently.

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

I have dry curly hair. I really want straight hair. I tried ironing with heat protection products, but the hair comes out too puffy. What are other ways to straighten my hair?

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

I've got curly hair and I wear it both ways depending on how much time i have to fix it that day...it looks better on me curly. See my fro on my avatar, that's what it looks like when it's curly. Anway, what I do to straighten it out is use a really good conditioner. Not one that claims to be good, one that feels good and gets the tangels out. That's all different for everyone, you might have to keep trying till you find a good one. I don't leave anything in it. I blow dry it straight, then go over it with a big curling iron to smooth it out. It usually comes out pretty smooth you can look at my profile to see how it looks straight (linda0982000) or you can im me. If it's really humid outside it still gives me some trouble. I don't know if they make this anymore but i used to use the Braun Style Shaper. It's a heated hairbrush that you can use anywhere, no cords or anything, and you use it dry. It did pretty good too. But usually the easiest (and most effective for me) is to blow dry it the night before, sleep on it and use the curling iron on it in the morning. It always seems to do better after laying on it. But that's how it works for me, your hair may be different so you never know for sure till you try it.

Oh yeah, my mom said her and her sisters used use really big curlers, or sometimes even cans (they were empty and washed out of course) before going to bed on very damp hair and it would straighten out over night, but the curlers have to be big or they will make it curl.

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

Don't try blow drying your hair straight, that will just make it even more poofy. What you should try is buy one of those straighteners that you can use on wet hair.

So right after you get out of the shower, rub some defrizzing lotion on it (I recommend Sunsilk), then straighten your hair with the Wet 2 Dry Straightener. After your hair is all straightened and there are still some frizzy parts, take an icecube and just run it once along the frizzy part. Not too many times, or the hair will turn curly again.

Heat protection products don't really work. You should use the shampoo from Sunsillk. It's in a green bottle, it comes with shampoo, conditioner, de-frizzing lotion. It works really well.

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

use bio silk before flat ironing it u can find bio silk at any hair store

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

i now that you said that it comes out poofy, but the chi really works. And it doesn't dry your hair out as much as the other ones. https://www.aveda.com/templates/products... And you might find something at Aveda on that page that might help your hair.

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

A straightening Iron! If this doesn't work, get hair drenched with water (like after a shower) and pull gel through it with your hands... See how that works for you, Good Styling!

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

maybe it's just the straightener because my hair is naturally wavy so when it dries i gets reaaally poofy and curly. try using a small straightener and do really small amounts of hair.

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

If you want to get really curly hair straight, First wash it with a good hydration shampoo. Personally i would let it air dry before straightening it. If you don't let it air dry and you straighten it wet, it could get fried. After you let it air dry, (have a friend help) while you straighten it before touches the iron hold it so that all the strands are straight. You might want to use a brush or comb or something. Do that for the rest of your head. If that doesn't work, nothing else will.

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

I have hair like yours and I cannot recommend anything more than the Maxiglide! It's a straightening iron that detangles the hair as you straighten, as well as steams the hair so that it retains moisture. It's a little pricey (I paid $100), but it really pays for itself. The best part is, you don't have to straighten your do every day; it can last for 3-4 days. (Although I don't go more than 2-3 days without washing my hair!)

Before you use a straightening iron, use a leave-in conditioner to protect your hair from heat damage, like Aussie Hair Insurance. The Hair Insurance is in a spray bottle, which is what I like best about it. Then put product in your hair; I like the serum and straightening lotion from the Garnier Fructis line. Oh yeah, and make sure your hair is 100% DRY when you put the products on. Using a straightening iron on wet hair will damage it very badly!

Once you're ready to use the iron, divide your hair into 5-6 sections, and straighten each section one at a time. With the Maxiglide, you'll be able to straighten your hair in about 15-20 minutes. It may seem like a long time, but the results are worth it and, like I said, last for days!

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

You gotta try Mixed Chicks products. That poofy frizzy thing...they do something in their products that fixes that. And it is pretty simple. You shampoo, condition, then put their leave-in conditioner on your hair wet and air dry. That is it. (http://www.mixedchicks.net)

If you want it straight, just shampoo, deep condition then apply the leave-in to the tips before you do the heat.

Ways for straightening dry curly hair?

- Go curly! Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!

- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).

-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sodium laureth sulfate or anything close to that). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.

- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones (cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone are examples). Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse with cold/cool water.

- Do not brush/comb your hair after this point because it wil disturb the curl pattern (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair with your fingers. Use a towel or paper towels to gently scrunch some of the water out. Then let your hair air dry or wait ten minutes and then use a blowdryer with a diffuser. Do not touch the hair while it is air drying or it will frizz!

- Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Desert Essence Organics Italian Red Grape Conditioner (found at health food/organic stores). The combo of products that I use daily is L'Oreal Out of Bed Weightless Texturizer (comes in a black-colored tub) and then Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Gel but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites.

- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! Hope this helps!

Would curly hair work for me?

I have shoulder length hair. It is already wavy but i want to have it fully curly. I am not sure if it'd work for me or not since It is so short. I don't want to perm it and then it to be like to my ears and make me look like i'm 12. I look young as it is.

Would curly hair work for me?

Why don't you try using hot rollers and/or a curling iron first. That way you'd get an idea of whether or not you'd like the look before you perm it. It'd be a lot easier to just wet your hair and take the curl out if you don't like it than to be stuck with a bad perm.

Would curly hair work for me?

i wouldnt the shorter the hair and curled the frizzier and froier it gets dont till you long long hair than it looks absolutley astonishing!

Would curly hair work for me?

i would think long and hard before you curl your hair. it will take alot more time to get ready in the morning if you do. but curly hair does not alway make you look young. try curling your hair with a curling iron a couple times and seeing if you like it.

Would curly hair work for me?

With perming you will lose about an inch of length. This hair style can be so easy to deal with. Just wash put some gel in and go.

If you don't mind losing a inch then go for it;)

Would curly hair work for me?

No curl

Would curly hair work for me?

noo! if u have short hair then it will looks bad because your hair will look much shorter and the shorter it is it will look too puffy and full! and if u have a round type of face it wouldent look good beacause it would make your face look rounder so it better straight because it make ur head look more oval

i ihave wavy hair. i need my hair curly for tomorrow morning. the thing is that im going to wash it today. what can i do so that when i wake up it will be curly?

I need advice for curly hair?

For a more natural curl you could use mosse. Otherwise twisty rags or bendy rollers will make it curler for you. Keep them low on your head otherwise it might be too 'high' and 'wide'.

I need advice for curly hair?

As your hair drys, put some gel into it and use your finger to roll it like a curling iron and make it curly

I need advice for curly hair?

mark products you can e mail me fo moe infomation

I need advice for curly hair?

when you wash it, and it is still wet, i suggest you try to make it straight as you can, and then get some curlers and put them in your hair. sleep like tht, and then tomorrow morning it will be curly, not wavy!

I need advice for curly hair?

Get it permed today or wash it and roll it up.

I need advice for curly hair?

Wear rollers in your hair to bed. they don't have to be uncomformatable, because you can use foam rollers or wrap a big a towel around your hair in rollers to make a nice a comfy pillow for your head.

I need advice for curly hair?

put rollers in ur hair or when ur hair is still wet put mousse in it and scrunch

I need advice for curly hair?

After your shower blow dry your hair then straighten you hair.Next curl your hair. When you wake up curl your hair again and use hair spray to hold it down.Good luck girlfriend!

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

Im a 15 year old guy and i have fairly long hair, like longish/medium, kind of like owen wilson length i guess. I have hair thats like curly if i dont use this gel stuff on it, and even when i use the gel and blow dry it, it works but if it gets even a little wet or if a lot of wind blows it up itll become more curly again. I wana be able to have it straightish but still wavy, not completely straight, and not all curly. Does anyone have any shampoos or like methods idk?

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

flat irons, or straighteners. but girls like guys with curly hair; they are cute

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

flat iron it when it is dry and tanlge free

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

I don't know

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

this is more of a chick stuff, but use the sunsilk straightening creme.

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

Best way is to blow dry it straight - if your hair is curly it will probably still have a slight wave.

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

Even though you are a guy, you don't have to tell anyone if you straiten your hair. hope i helped!

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

If you don't mind spending a bit, the Matrix Sleek Look line is very efficient. If you wash and condition your hair with the shampoo and conditioner, you'll get semistraight locks. They also sell a water lockout spray for use after blowdrying or straightening of the hair. The Sleek Look line also has a clean professional scent that doesn't make guys smell like girls or vice versa.

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

yeah curls are cute in guys!! i say you keep em

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

DON'T USE A BLOW DRYER...its will just make your hair bigger and wavier. Use mousse, pomade, or a serum with protein or silicone to smooth down your hair cuticles. Then use a flat iron to straighten your hair. Weather and moisture are what makes your cuticles rise, and it makes your hair curly and frizzy. Silicone will smooth down your cuticles and makes it weather resistant. My mom is a hair stylist and I have the same problem except my hair is really long.

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

use a flat iron and some hair grease. some of the shampoos work. u could also go to a salon and get a relaxer

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

I have the same problem. My hair is wavy/curly if I let it air dry, so if I want a straight look, I use shampoo that is specially made to help straighten hair, along with mouse, some other product, then I blow dry with a large metal barrel brush. This seems to work well for me, seeing as my hair is partly thin to thick in some spots.

How can i get my curly hair to be more straight and not have curls on the end?

yea u can get a relaxer. itll just make your curls looser but not completely straight. and its permanent so your hair will stay that way even when wet. u have to get it touched up every 4-6 weeks though because the new hair that grows in will be your natural curly and itll look all funky if u dont touch it up.
