Hey, curly hair question!?

Okay ,so i have really thick, curly, past shoulder length hair and when i straighten it it appears to be poofy. what are some products i can use to make it 'long and sleek

Hey, curly hair question!?

Mine is the EXACT same.

1. You may want to get it thinned out a little bit.

2. John Frieda Frizz Eaze hair serum (smooths it out)

3. YOu just need to straighten for a longer period of time. It will get flatter and smoother.

Hey, curly hair question!?

My hair really is exactly the same as yours. It takes me a long time to do it. My best advice to you really is to do as less as possible to it until it grows out. If you need any more help or advice with it or anything else please do not hesitate to ask me.

Hey, curly hair question!?

my daughters hair is just like yours, she also straightens her hair and uses MATRIX sleek look spray, her hair comes out very shiny and smooth. its to be used with an iron smoother.

Hey, curly hair question!?

I have curly hair and the only thing that can make it sleek and straight is my straightener. Its the one some salons use and i bought it at Walmart for $100. But i love it - my hair is straight and no puffyness in 10 minutes.

Hey, curly hair question!?

you can have it treated. they can straighten it out and then you'll just have to maintain it with conditioner.

Hey, curly hair question!?

if you go to the salon and ask them to thin it for you it should help out a lot. you could also consider getting it japanese straightened or something like that, you could still wear it curly just not as curly and it will be MUCH easier to do.

good luck=]

Hey, curly hair question!?

Hey, curly hair question!?

straighten it and use MATRIX sleek look spray. it comes out shiny and straight and looks like your hair is naturally straight. happy styling! =]

Hey, curly hair question!?

I think curly hair is beautiful. Let me just point out that when someone wants to look seductive or elegant the first style they opt for is curls! Be proud of what you've got. I suggest you read "Curly Girl: The Handbook" by Lorraine Massey. It'll change your way of thinking.

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

I really want to try highlights for the first time but I am afraid this will really dry my hair out since curly hair is already dry. Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with this?

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

Keep in mind that the more drastic the hair-color change, the more difficult the coloring job may be. Don't go more than two shades lighter.

At home, color should never be applied from the root to the end in one step. Color should be left on the roots for about 10 minutes, then extended to all of the hair for an additional 10 minutes.

If you highlight your curls at home, be sure to brush the highlight evenly and carefully from the root to the end before wrapping the hair in foil. If highlights are applied too quickly, the hair will not be properly covered. Most importantly, at least one-third of a curl has to be in the foil. "If a curl is fat or tight," Christo says, "and if not enough hair is picked up into the foil, the highlighting will not work properly." The right coloring techniques also affect how your highlights look. Be sure you understand what's needed should you color and highlight on your own.

When highlighting, don't do too much of the hair, and don't highlight near the hairline, Christo advises. It's best to highlight half an inch from the hairline, so if mistakes are made they won't show.

If you want to color or highlight at home to cut down on expensive salon visits, talk to your colorist, says Christo. Ask for advice on shades, brands and techniques. And, he adds, there's some good news about curly hair: It doesn't show the roots as much, so touchups are needed less often. You might need a touchup for single-process color every six to eight weeks. Highlights for single-process color can be redone every five to six months.

To avoid drying out your hair, shorten the application time. "Take the time from the package instructions and reduce that by one-third," Christo says. "Check the hair with a comb; if the color looks good, rinse it out. In the salon I never color for more than 20 minutes and I always achieve wonderful results."

A single teaspoon of olive oil added to a color or highlight right before applying it at home can create healthier conditions for the hair and scalp.

Finally, Christo says, lush curls and waves need attention and regular conditioning. "As long as the hair is healthy, a woman can achieve any color she desires." His salon recommends a silky cream called Deep Therapy Masque, which he applies for 8 to 10 minutes. You can also look for any deep-hydrating product that will keep color-treated hair healthy and full of body.

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

i have rather curly hair and i have highlights in it,it seems to be working fine.

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

I heard that if you have curly hair, that means that your brain is twisted, thats why your hair grows twisted

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

I have curly hair and I have had it high lighted. Just get a good conditioner and you should be fine.

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

i have curly hair- and im always colouring it - i have never had a problem with it being dry..just make sure you get it done professionally 1st time around

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

The bleach will dry your hair some....Just remember to use a good conditioner regularly.

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

I've done it, several times, and I've come to accept that my hair will look like brillo unless I condition it into submission, put all kinds of goo in it, and never be in humidity above 4%. This is either with or without highlights. I love to color my hair, so I try not to heat style, and get them professionally done, that should be less risk to your hair. Should be. Keep it trimmed, and good luck!

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

Highlighting is actually better than dying ur hair..so yea.. highlight is good....

Curling ur hair makes ur hair dry? really? omg! Im actually thinking about doing that! *shucks*

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

i have curly hair and i highlight it. but my secret is called "hair fixer" which is sold at sally's. It consists of 6 blue pills that you mix with a solution and apply to your hair. I swear if you folllow the box's instructions it works as a miracle

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

Anytime you lighten your hair you run da risk of damaging it because da chemicals used to highlight work by stripping color off your hair. If you deep condition on a regular basis and go to someone who is a real colorist, you should be okay without drying or damaging your hair. But stay away from do it urself highlight kits and wannabe hairdressers. Better to pay da extra money and get it done right den 2 have ur hair lookn lyk da scarecrow in da Wiz! :)

Okay 1 more curly hair question....... have any of you ever highlighted your hair?

please go for it

then put your picture up on the yahoo 360 so we all can say it looks great..

smile

just do it

good luck

How to get my curly hair to lay straight or down good?

i have long curly hair but cant wear it down with out frizz and i dont have the time to straighten it i need something i can do every morning and wear my hair down with out a lot of frizz and my hair is kind of damged and i want to get it back to normal and wear it down so pleas help and i need something i can buy from a sallys or small hair shop or something i can use from home like a remedie

How to get my curly hair to lay straight or down good?

First thing get it cut not short but the ends and in some layers so you can wear it either curly or straight and it won't be frizzy. Then buy frizz-ease serum and blow dry if you want it curly use a difuser and if you want it straight use a round brush and divide into sections while working through with the brush.

How to get my curly hair to lay straight or down good?

I used to brush mine while blow drying, but this could cause you more damage unless you get a serum to protect against heat damage. Also, Redken Straight hair gel might be of use to you.

How to get my curly hair to lay straight or down good?

GO TO THE BEAUTY SALON

How to get my curly hair to lay straight or down good?

First you need to deep condition your hair, apply a cap and let sit for about 30 minutes. Never towel dry your hair, it will only frizz more. Just blot it with a towel. Apply bio silk or serum - frizz ease works real well. Apply it from the roots to the ends then apply mousse while scrunching. You may also need a trim to get rid of some of the damaged hair..

Hope this helps!

How to get my curly hair to lay straight or down good?

I have curly hair also...and very thin (which sucks!) anyway, go to a beauty salong where they sell products. Buy Potion number 9 by Sebastian and Biosilk serum. Apply small amounts to damp hair and blow dry straight in medium size sections. I know you say you dont have the time but you won't have to do it everyday. Your blow dry will last about 1-2 days. On the weekends give your hair a break and apply alot of the Potion number 9 to your curls. Also, try using Dumb Blonde shampoo and conditioner. I've started using it and it does wonders! Good luck :)

How to get my curly hair to lay straight or down good?

please don,t cut it. just leave it long and curly. Some guys like me, really like it that way. put it in a pony tail if it gets in your way

How to get my curly hair to lay straight or down good?

Use Herbal Essences Dangerously straight shampoo%26amp;Conditioner.After you wash it blow dry and apply Suave Sleek Smothing Creame (in an orange tube) to your hair.

How to get my curly hair to lay straight or down good?

Blow dry with a large diameter brush or use a ceramic straightening iron is really the best and easiest way. It lasts a few days. Trim the bad ends. Condition condition condition...

Sideswept bangs w curly hair?? and other hair questions?

i have really curly hair and i want side swept bangs. any suggestions? should i or shouldn't i? also if i straighten my hair, how do i get it to go into very loose, piece waves? thanks =)

Sideswept bangs w curly hair?? and other hair questions?

Yes go for the sideswept bangs! Because they are easy to straighten and you could also blow dry. They aren't as much hassle as full bangs and make your hair look more styled.

To get loose waves, blowdry your hair then use a straightener on medium heat (if possible) and curl with them.

To do this, clamp them onto the top of your hair near the roots, twist and pull down.

If you can't alter the heat, just run your fingers through the waves once they are done.

You will probably want to use hairspray to keep it in place.

Sideswept bangs w curly hair?? and other hair questions?

all you have to Straighten is the bangs if you love your curly hair but if you hate i hate no answer

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

do you straighten your hair with a flat iron? if so how often? and after you wash it again do you get your curls back or have you noticed you are loosing your curls, and they are getting flatter?

I want to straighten my hair sometimes, and i have curly hair, which i love! but sometimes i feel like looking different, but my fear is that i will eventually lose my curls!! HELP! and thank you =D

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

your hair will always go back just dont burn it with the iron

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

if you straighten it with a flat iron it will be stright but if you want your curls back just wash it

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

first i blowdry my hair kinda straight, as straight as i can get it, and then use the flat iron to make it straight-straight. my curls are just as buxom as before i straightened it. Curls are beautiful. i want straight hair so badly, but it is just so normal and the curly hair is exotic.

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

Yes I have curly hair however it is straightened with hair straightener. All of my life it has been thick curly and wavy. Before I had my hair straightened, I use flat iron every other 2-3 days after wash. No I didn't loose my curls AT ALL. You won't either.

Have fun experimenting new hairstyles!

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

i have curly hair, and i do straighten it some what frequently...but trust me if you take it easy with the flat iron like maybe 2-3 times a week you really don't have to worry about losing your curl. but as a curly haired girl you should know that your curls will be a little less curlier in the winter because of the lack of humidity. but don't over do the straightening because that leads to split ends and then your curly hair will be quite frizzy. so don't sweat losing your curl and go for it !

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

i straight it like 3 times or sometimes more in the week

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

Well, I don't have naturally curly hair but my friend does and she straightens hers once or twice a week. After she washes it the curls look the same as they did before. Just make sure you spray your hair with a protectant spray (I love ion) before. It'll look great!

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

No you will not loose your curls. I have curly hair and I straighten like only on the weekend b/c it takes so long but it does damage my hair. If it's going to rain i can not straighten it will just curl back up. I wish this was true that I would loose them but no only damage your hair.

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

I have super curly hair that i adore. I also like strighting it sometimes. My advice is when you're strightinenig it always apply protection creams to it. And don't strighten it every day, my friend did that and her curls are gone now. When you strighten ur hair do it and don't shower for lik 3 days, it will last! Because too much heat will make ur hair frizzy. ALso always apply finishing serme when done with styling hair. Only strighten it 1 time evry month. Thats wat i do and my curls ROCK!!

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

I have curly hair and do straighten it at least 3 times a week and have done it more often. The curl returns when I wash it. Your curls will return as long as you don't damage your hair and even then it will only be where you have damaged your hair. What grows from the scalp will be curly. Use a CHI flat iron and Framesi Options WIO Straightening Balm and you will not have any worries about damaging your hair and losing your curls. Happy Straightening.....

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

if you have naturally curly hair like me they will porbably never go away! i straighten my hair pronbably 3 times a week. i wash it and the curls always come back. this have been happening for about about 5 years now so you have nothing to be scared of

If you have curly hair please answer!! thanks?

I have curly hair and I am sick of my hairstyle but maybe it'll work for u coz mines grown out a bit.

get layers and ONLY STRAIGHTEN a side fringe. It looks cool with curly hair at the back.

Wavy/curly hair?

Hi! I have wavy/curly hair to my mid back and it is not to thick or to thin. I would say it is more thick than thin......anyway what do you think would be a good straightener?

Wavy/curly hair?

First you should get some sort of heat spray to protect your hair, then you should blow it dry after you spray the protectant on (most beauty supply stores have cheap ones). Then you should purchase a ceramic style hair straightener from the drugstore (or ebay is an option) - look for one that has good ratings. This will run you $50 -$100 if you want a quality one that won't do too much damage. Then purchase a glosser to go over the top and voila! you have beautiful silky, straight hair.

Wavy/curly hair?

Chi... They are the best on the market :)

I have the same type of hair... It works wonders!! I also use the chi silk infusion this helps protect your hair when you use the flat iron :)

Wavy/curly hair?

ya i would go with chi or check out global beauty network inc that one works great to

Wavy/curly hair?

i had the chi hair straightener and i thought it was a waste of money people just buy them to show off. i have curly hair and bc of how long it takes to blow dry then straighten my hair i like to use the hair straightener that dries and straightens hair i think its made by conair it works the same as chi and saves you time

Wavy/curly hair?

Have a curly hair and want a curly hairstyle that suits you, get tips and advice here:

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene

well this professor said the reason why the Irish people like the Spanish people often have naturally curly hair is bc of their small mix of north African in them? So, any time a white person has curly hair, it's bc the tiny bit of black blood they might have in them (even something as insignificant as less than one percent)? It sounds like thats what hes saying. I then said "well Irish people have a different kind of curly hair than black people though". It's true. Black people have nice curly hair and so do Irish, but they have different textures. He said it's bc of only the small amount of black blood in the Irish and thats why their curls are different in texture than black people. I know we all supposedly originated from Africa, but is curly hair really only a trait due to African genes? Ive seen plenty of Germans, Hispanics, etc with curly but "non-Afro" type hair.

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

First, their is no such thing as a black gene. That is not true, hair texture depends on someone genetics. Just because you have curly hair doesn't mean you automatically have black in your family history. All races can have curly hair, genes and traits aren't exclusive to one race. The professor needs to go back to school instead of teaching.

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

just becaue you have curly hair does'nt mean you goT a BLACK GENE AND IF YOU DO SO WHAT?

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

thats total crap and its not true however it may be true to a specific genus of people, where in this case it would be the irish. im not saying it is true just that its possible

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

So I guess if a white person has straight hair, it means they have Chinese in them. Your professor is working in the wrong profession.

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

that professor is a fool

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

I agree also if you're part jewish you have curly hair

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

what? your professor is on the cheech and chong!

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

Not true. Jewish people sometimes have "Jew-fros". They are the coolest thing ever. You might have a little of that in you. Curly doesn't mean you have black in you.

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

Switch classes

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

Actually, I agree with those who say so what. However, I find the subject of our heritage very interesting. If you are really interested on where your family has been and what your make-up is, you might have your DNA tested. With such an Ancestral test, you can find out where your family may have migrated from in the early days of the world.

There are two basic types of DNA tests available for genealogical testing:

mtDNA Tests - Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is contained in the cytoplasm of the cell, rather than the nucleus. This type of DNA is passed by a mother to both male and female offspring without any mixing, so your mtDNA is the same as your mother's mtDNA, which is the same as her mother's mtDNA. mtDNA changes very slowly so it cannot determine close relationships as well as it can determine general relatedness. If two people have an exact match in their mtDNA, then there is a very good chance they share a common maternal ancestor, but it is hard to determine if this is a recent ancestor or one who lived hundreds of years ago. It is important to keep in mind with this test that a male's mtDNA comes only from his mother and is not passed on to his offspring.

Example: The DNA tests that identified the bodies of the Romanovs, the Russian imperial family, utilized mtDNA from a sample provided by Prince Philip, who shares the same maternal line from Queen Victoria.

Y Line Tests - More recently, the Y chromosome in the nuclear DNA is being used to establish family ties. The Y chromosomal DNA test (usually referred to as Y DNA or Y-Line DNA) is only available for males, since the Y chromosome is only passed down the male line from father to son. Tiny chemical markers on the Y chromosome create a distinctive pattern, known as a haplotype, that distinguishes one male lineage from another. Shared markers can indicate relatedness between two men, though not the exact degree of the relationship. Y chromosome testing is most often used by individuals with the same last name to learn if they share a common ancestor.

Example: The DNA tests supporting the probability that Thomas Jefferson fathered the last child of Sally Hemmings were based on Y-chromosome DNA samples from male descendants of Thomas Jefferson's paternal uncle, since there were no surviving male descendants from Jefferson's marriage.

Markers on both mtDNA and Y chromosome tests can also be used to determine an individual's haplogroup, a grouping of individuals with the same genetic characteristics. This test may provide you with interesting information about the deep ancestral lineage of your paternal and/or maternal lines.

I hope this helps and interests you as much as it does me.

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

Its likely. Its a fact that blacks have migrated throughout the world, whether by choice or not.

This is also similar to black people with light colored eyes. They more then likely have some white or other race far back in their genealogical history.

And Jew is not an ethnicity, its a religion!

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?

I have heard a lot of stuff and have studied a lot of different things ... but never that ...

Somebody said when a white or other non-black person has curly hair, it's bc of some black gene in them?
