How to manage curly hair?

I have curly hair that has been damaged from dying and styling. I have tried just about every product for curly hair, and mine is still dry and frizzy. I've heard to not wash hair every day, but condition it. Does this work? Also, what are some good products and styling tips to get soft bouncy curls that aren't tangeled together?

Try using shampoo and conditioner for curly hair, or just a really good moistorizing shampoo and conditioner. Pantene is good and so is Dove. For curling I'd try Loreal. Add a little leave in conditioner from Netrogena Triple Moisture, it's light and doesn't weigh your hair down. Try Hot Spring heat activated curling spray from Loreal. It defines the curls and doesn't leave your hair feeling heavy or sticky.

Matrix Curl Life works wonders. The shampoo and conditioner can be used every day and the styling lotion helps keep down the frizzies. They also make a serum that you can use to define your curls. A little bit of the serum goes a long way. This stuff isn't the cheapest product but its been worth it for me!!!

My daughter is half white and black but she has causian hair and its curly. I have always used Infusim 23 shampoo, and leave in conditioner. It worked for her hair maybe it will work for you. Good luck

Aha! Just had the same problem after I permed and coloured my previously rebonded hair. Talk about hair abuse. Have tried L'Oreal and other generally available hair products specifically for curly hair but only these salon recommended products worked and they are all made by an Italian company named Brelil- BioTraitement Shampoo, BioTraitement Mask, L4 (leave in hair oil). The mask in particular is really good! These were recommended by a salon in Singapore. You might want to try googling these products to find out who can ship to your location. Best of luck! P.S. Washing everyday okay as long as you use the right products. I actually swim every night so have to wash daily.

Hey there,

I have curly hair as well. I use John Frieda Frizz-Ease shampoo and conditioner and sometimes use Pantene Pro-V. I find that my worst hair days are the days when I wash my hair because it just goes crazy! When you are washing your hair (I usually wash mine 3 times a week maximum and never condition it without washing it first, but that's just me) ONLY condition what you can hold in a ponytail. You do not need to condition your roots because the oil in your scalp does it for you.

I also use Infusium leave-in conditioner after showering from time to time because it helps to get rid of some of the frizz. I find that alternating my hair products every once in a while helps also so my hair does not get 'used' to certain products.

Good styling products:

-Fructis curling mousse

-John Frieda curling hair spray (don't know the exact name)

-Marc Anthony hair cream (it's yellow)

-John Frieda anti-frizz serum

When I want my hair to be in soft ringlets, I usually spray in some of the Infusium leave-in conditioner and then rub in the Marc Anthony cream. I turn my head upside down and with a towel over my flat hands, crunch my hair into curls. Grab hair from the ends and crunch towards the roots and hold for a few seconds. Once I am finished with this process, I usually do the same with my head upright just using my fingers.

I hope this helps your cause. Curly hair can be a bummer to deal with but once you figure it out it can be a blessing!

Well since you have put chemicals in your hair your curls are not going to lay the way they are supposed to. I have curly hair and I have dyed my hair not to long ago, my hair tends to get dry alot too but i wash my hair every other day and when I do I wash my roots and condition my ends. Stay away from gels and hairsprays, it only dries your hair out ALOT more. After I get out of the shower I put a conditioning curl cream in my hair. I use Herbal Essence or Garnier for color treated hair. If you want soft bouncy curls try Garniers curl cream. When you are picking out your shampoo and conditioner make sure it is especially for color treated hair. Stay away from others.

FYI: Don't use a real heavy conditioner on you hair because it will weigh your curls down.

Every time you heat style your hair make sure you spray your hair down with a heat protector so you don't fry your hair.

If you want bouncy curls, after you get out of the shower spray thermasilk or another heat protector on your hair. Put on an anti-frizz curl cream, after you do that blow your hair with a diffuser (You can find a diffuser at Sally's or Walmart) and diffuse your hair upside down until dry. Your results: Soft, bouncy, Frizz less curls. (Using gel will give you the hard, crispy curls THAT YOU DON'T WANT.)

Hope this helps.

Good Luck.

2.) Wash your hair get all the product out like hair spray, moose, gel etc.)
